e e cummings 1894 - 1962

Love him or hate him no one can deny that e e cummings was certainly not a ‘regular’ poet.His work is undeniably different from the mainstream poet, some examples of his poetry are difficult to understand by many but yet, 112 years since his birth he has his devotees around the world.
Edward Estlin Cummings was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts,USA. The son of Edward Cummings, a Unitarian minister of the South Congregational Church in Boston, and Rebecca Haswell Clarke. Cummings's mother encouraged him from an early age to write verse and to keep a journal. He was educated at the Cambridge Latin School and at Harvard College, where in 1915 he received his A.B., graduating magna cum laude in Greek and English; he received his M.A. from Harvard in 1916. His is also well known for his art and paintings and received encouragement to show his paintings in both Europe and United States. He died on 3rd September 1962 of a Cerebral haemorrhage.
