The International Astronomy Union are getting together to consider whether objects such as the new 'Sedna" planet should be classified as planets. They will consider the minimum size for a planet.
Pluto could be demoted from its planet status because some astronomers say it's too small. "If we were starting anew, undoubtedly Pluto wouldn't be labeled a planet," said Professor Iwan Williams, of the IAU.
Williams adds: "We have almost 100 years of culture that says Pluto's a planet." So more thought will go into this. Many astronomers admit 'Sedna' is not a true planet, instead calling it a planetoid.
