Globalization is a key concept in the world today.What are the positive and negative consequences of this process?Which do you think are greater,the advantages or disadvantages of a global society?

The last half a century has seen many monumental changes throughout the world.The collapse of the former Soviet Union and the dissolution of the iron Curtain,new policies in China,and the centralization of Europeancountries have brought the nations of the world into direct contactwith one another.This process,called globalization,has forced social,economic.political and cultural integration,the advantages and disadvantages of which are widely debated.

The advantages oh globalization are many.It has forged new strengths through unity,particularly in Europe.As the European Union expands,for example,and the member states become fully intergrated,commercial,educational,political and cultural barriers recede,permitting a more unified and common society.This process facilitates the free movement and communication of all populations,bringing people closer together.Beyond Europe,globalization has done much to aid the development of China and other Asian countries that were previously much more isolated and remote from global advancements.Today they enjoy a new openness and ability to relate more easily with the rest of the world.

The process of globalization has not been without negative consequences, however.One of the most widely argued drawbacks is that nations and cultures risk losing their unique identities and characteristics as they attempt to mold themselves into a single global image.Opening borders has also brought with it a high influx of refugee immigration,which has proved rather challenging to control.It has alsoignited the hostilities of less developed nations who continue to remain far outside the sphere of a new globally linked society.

Despite these cosiderations,the process of globalization has been decidedly successful in bridging differences btween cultures and nations.Clearly the advantages of helping people communicate better and live and work together in greater harmony are enormous.
