Jesus was not the only god-savior. In earlier mythologies we had Osiris, as an example, Egyptian god of the afterlife, Adonis, Dionysus...etc. And they all touch upon a similar theme of being born miracurously with powers not of a normal human being, rising to the status of a hero and then dying either through self-sacrifice or by being betrayed or defeated in war.
