Dear Sir or Madam

I am an Albanian who felt obliged writing to you regarding a monstrous case of a violation of human rights portrayed by a video posted on the internet whose main characters were two Greek policemen. These policemen were beating inhumanly two Albanian individuals. This is not the first instance that Greek authorities express their crystal clear feelings about Albanians. There was another video posted online not long ago of Greek soldiers singing anti-Albanian songs. Albanian and Greek televisions showed both of these videos to tell people what barbarous events are happening in a country, part of the NATO and the EU.

I understand that, there can never be bad nations, but only bad individuals. But things become alarming when National Authorities support these instances. As a citizen of a free country, that is when I feel that it is my duty to denounce these violations of Articles 2, 3, 5, 6, and 11 of the Human Rights Declaration.

Because they were denied recognition as “persons” for being Albanians.

Because they were treated unfairly for being Albanians.

Because their natural rights to life and liberty were taken away.

Because cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment was forced upon them.

Because their punishments are dealt arbitrarily and unilaterally, without a proper trial.

There are hundreds and thousands of barbaric cases just like the one the video portrays but still unreported. A reason is because of the psychological pressure Albanian immigrants have to deal with when living in Greece, and another is because sometimes, for the sake of international politics, authorities choose to be “blind” for these cases. But when a policeman beats inhumanly an Albanian just because the individual is an Albanian, he beats every Albanian citizen of this world.

Thank you for reading my letter, and I hope that something will be done regarding this cause, since it is a threat to justice because, like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”.
