The perfect books to read during vacation
I always try to read world known and valued books. The best known writers, the most famous..., but sometimes by reading a lot of Dostoyevsky you tend to get tired so... I swich to other books which I guess you could call "Entertaining books". Usually this category consists of romantic books but they may involve and disccuss such a large variety of subjects that may acctually surprize you.
So I thought about it and wanted to know your sugesstions about these kind of books. Which would you recomend?
My favorites so far would be a tirology by Nora Roberts, the Chesapeake Bay saga, which acctually turns out to be four books and not 3 as I originally thought. Is about the Quinn brothers, three troublesome teenage boys who get adopted by the Quinns and learn what it means to be a family and learn to love and trust eachother and give a chance to themselves and life. The first book is titled:
Swept away - and talks about the life of the oldest of the boys which is Cammeron Quinn a typical rebel.
The second book talks about Ethan Quinn - Rising tides
and the third talks about Philip Quinn - Inner harbor.
I totally agree with you Iliriusa. Sometimes is good te read these books called as "limonade books" For example Nora Roberts has a lot of romance in her books, but makes us to be more updated with the real world today and to understand the concept of life we are living now and specially for the people who are living in U.S.A.
Lately you told me that you read a book "How to remember to forget" can you pls give me the right title.
I think I need to read this book.
Hello Football, I'm sorry I think that you either missunderstood me or I wasn't expressed very well. It was just a phrase I read somewhere from someone famous and I couldn't bring myself to remember the name of that person but it just caught my attention, you know... "Remember to forget". The only way one can remember to forget is just practice I guess, just like everything else, practice makes perfect.
But there's another book which I don't know why but I think you would like to read, maybe you have, I don't know. But it's titled "That Camden summer" by Lavyrle Spencer. I don't know if you've read "Little women" but most probably you've seen the movie (one of it's versions). 'That Camden summer' holds kind of the same atmosfere. There's this woman, Roberta Jewett, the mother of four little girls, if I'm not mistaken, and after divorcing her cheating husband she decides to takes her four girls and go back to her hometown, Camden, Maine.
I liked it very much, so much a few months after I had read it I re-read it. I would suggest you to read that...
Alexander The Great
For me a good suggestion would be the trilogy of Alexander The Great by Valerio Massimo Manfredi. I have really enjoyed reading these three books; even I can say they are ones of my favourite. It's a great adventure story.
