The tilde is a line that is placed on the syllable that takes the accent, in some words.

Which words do they take tilde?

They take tilde:

a) the sharp ones that end up in "n", in "s" or in "vowel". E.g.: jardķn, compįs, llegó.

b) The flat ones that don't end up in "n", "s" or "vowel". E.g.: cįrcel, césped, Fernįndez.

c) The esdrśjulas and sobreesdrśjulas take all tilde. E.g.: sįbado, médico.

Where is the tilde placed?

a) on the vowel of the syllable that takes the accent: įrbol.

b) If the syllable on which it is necessary to put the tilde has a diphthong or a triphthong, it is placed on one of the vowels "a", "e", "o" never on "i", "u". If the diphthong is "iu" or "ui" it is placed on the last vowel. Huésped, cuķdate.

c) we sometimes use the tilde to undo a diphthong. E.g.: Marķa, bśho, tahśr.
