Use of Drugs and Romaticism is probably more widespread; great writers of Gothic Literature ( s. XVIII-XIX) were consumer of drugs. Many writers and poets used opium as a way to help them write.

For Instance Mary Shelley, John Polidori & Percy Shelley were suspected of taking opium . The night Shelley wrote 'Frankenstein' and Polidori wrote 'The Vampyre' they were all apparently taking it . Polidori was Shelley's 'doctor', but that typified their drug dealer.

Coleridge's drug-induced dream that became 'Kubla Khan'. Worth looking at Thomas de Quincey's 'Confessions of an English Opium Eater' - although this is not strictly Gothic. Can't think of any specific links between Gothic writers and the influence of drugs: although several (Shelley, Stoker and Stevenson) were said to have been inspired by lucid nightmares brought on by over-eating. Have a look a Richard Davenport's book 'Gothic'.

I've done some of my best essays when i was high on weed.

I dont know , ideas just flow and come to you maybe its because you are creative at that time. It might not work for other people and no i wouldnt recommend it.

oh master, i hope to be clear that i haven't said that "Drugs=Literature"... i don't think it at all... so if you have any doubt read better what i wrote: "Can't think of any specific links between Gothic writers and the influence of drugs"
It can be that society allows some excesses to the creators, maybe because of the respect that artistic activity produces and also because of the belief that artists are excentric. In any case, some people have said that cannabis has improved their creativity (for example Endri) but this doesn't mean that it is in all the cases.

PS: let's hope you don't teach "Drugs=Literature" to your students ... what a teacher you are...
