For the days when love screams out loud

It's fall. Everything speaks of magic these days for me. Fall, when the trees are dancing, the leaves are clapping, the birds are still singing, the air is blue, the earth is brown, and the tress are red. Fall is warmth, fall is home, fall is that fogginess mixed up with drops of rain, moon chasing, sunny walks, hay rides, orange sweaters, apples, hot chocolate, pumpkins, breathing cool, pulling over to take pictures of red trees reflecting in the pond down below with its lily pads. Colorful lily pads. Fall inspires me to paint, to dance, to write, to do something uniquely wild and inventive. Fall breathes of new possibilities, new ventures, the air is pregnant with surprises...ALWAYS. Fall leads me to the playground and swings, to picnics, to Norah Jones smoky and mellow singing, to lazy Saturday mornings, to tenderness and finally....to God.
Fall brings me back to God's beauty. How inventive and artsy to think of creating such a beautiful season! A season that lets God say: "Hello darling, are you mesmerized yet?" and "Did the sight leave you speechless? Good,mission accomplished." or "I have the power to woo you" and "Let's fall in love again." Falling in love, falling in fall and erasing everything that hinders your love for God or that casts any shadow upon your heart. He has the power to allure and the power to make things new,to forgive and to love.
Surprisingly enough I have been reading Hosea 2:19 again-I will betroth you to me forever. What a great promise to read that despite everything going on in my life, his word never changes, he has his tux ready, the rings, the perfect Norah Jones song, with the perfect fall colors and states quite powerfully " I will marry you!" Imagine just for a second God asking for your hand. Wild!!!! That the Maker of the entire Universe, the Creator of all that exists is willing to marry you.
The passage is much more rich than that. Hosea 2:14-20 speaks of a God madly in love with people, patient with everyone and with those he chooses as his own ( Israelites) to repent, to turn from their sinful ways and love him back. In this book Hosea is commanded by God to reconcile with his wife who left him, was an adulteress and became a prostitute. God told him: Love her as the Lord loves the Israelites,though they turn to other gods...( Hosea3:1b) Hosea's personal struggle with his wife was an analogy of how God loved the Israelites even tho they were unfaithful toward him, and went after other gods such as Baal ( a man made deity resembling a bull and a toad). It's surprising that after he describes the Isrealites' unfaithfulness, God does not abandon them, instead he wants to bring them back, to allure, to speak tenderly to, to propose once again, to ask for her hand, to protect, to provide and to love, to do the part of a husband.

I will lead her into the wilderness
and speak tenderly to her.
15 There I will give her back her vineyards,
and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope.
There she will respond as in the days of her youth,
as in the day she came up out of Egypt.
16 “In that day,” declares the Lord,
“you will call me ‘my husband’;
you will no longer call me ‘my master.
17 I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips;
no longer will their names be invoked.
18 In that day I will make a covenant for them
with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky
and the creatures that move along the ground.
Bow and sword and battle
I will abolish from the land,
so that all may lie down in safety.19
I will betroth you to me forever;
I will betroth you in righteousness and justice,
in love and compassion.
20 I will betroth you in faithfulness,
and you will acknowledge the Lord.
21 “In that day I will respond,”
declares the Lord—
“I will respond to the skies,
and they will respond to the earth;
22 and the earth will respond to the grain,
the new wine and the olive oil,
and they will respond to Jezreel.
23 I will plant her for myself in the land;
I will show my love to the one I called ‘Not my loved one.
I will say to those called ‘Not my people,’ ‘You are my people’;
and they will say, ‘You are my God.’”

This is the perfect wedding song, a song that conveys that God is here, to love, to bring back, to keep his promises, to arouse you to be fully faithful to him, to bask in his beauty , in his nature, for these are the days when love screams out loud....
