Act
We conceive the physical world as a dynamic system of events. Things happen. That's life, we say. We are studying physics here with an eye to theology, and choose the word act to provide the unifying symmetry between the two disciplines. Our historical starting point is the Summa of Thomas Aquinas, whose model of God postulates that God is 'pure act' (actus purus ).
